Now open for business, the Oakville Club has nearly 11,000 registered players, is the largest youth soccer organization in Canada. Up until last year, the club had been using a private field protected by a dome for winter soccer. Then, this property was sold. And now, they have a new location.
The new site in in the Pine Glen Soccer Centre location on Third Line, near dundas Street. The club will pay off the debt over 20 years with revenues from user fees, naming rights advertising and concessions. Oakville will own the facility.
The indoor field will be divided into 4 smaller fields and will be used year-round.
There are plans by the Oakville Club to make the facility avalable to other sports such as rugby and fooball, and to school groups.
Another major project being worked on is at North Park with 8 outdoor soccer fields to open in 2010 and another nine about 2015.
